Ever and Again: Rethinking Recycled Textiles

Kate Goldsworthy is currently undertaking a PhD project as part of the Ever & Again; rethinking recycled textiles research team based at Chelsea College of Art & Design. The project entitled Material Re-creation: the forward design of thermoplastic waste into ‘interim’ textile products, explores the role of new manufacturing processes and digital technologies in creating innovative solutions for recycling synthetic materials. Design strategies including design for disassembly and cradle to cradle design have been employed, with the intention that products can be recycled through multiple life-cycles.
