Biography

Philip Delamore is a Research Fellow at the London College of Fashion, where he combines interests in art, science and technology to develop new approaches to fashion design and creativity. This approach is through collaborative modes of practice, and his current research involves the application of expertise in computer science and materials science to fashion design, utilising 3D bodyscanning, visualisation, customisation and direct 3D manufacturing.
As associate director of the Centre for Fashion Science, he is integrating 3D CAD and Rapid Prototyping(RP) into the Fashion design environment, and is developing a design studio which integrates 3D CAD, Haptic interfaces and RP for a range of research and design applications.
As an associate lecturer at the University of the Arts London, Philip lectures in the UK and internationally,and has given presentations at the V&A, ICA and Royal Institute among others. He sits on advisory panels for UK university textile and fashion courses, as well as undertaking design consultancy for industry, recently being funded by the LDA to research new 3D surface finishing and decoration strategies for bespoke sports footwear with Prior2Lever on their "Assassin" football boot.
Graduating with a degree in Fashion and Printed Textiles in 1990, Philip was a partner in a womenswear label from 1992-1999, showing in London and Paris and selling internationally. In 1995-6 he took a diploma in Computing for Fine Art, and began to develop inkjet printed textiles for clients including Tristan Webber, Dunhill, Hamish Morrow, Paul Smith, Ferrari and Hermes.

Philip Delamore's research explores strategies for the assimilation of new and emerging science and technology into the creation and consumption of Fashion, by the development of intelligent, sustainable and beautiful textiles.
