Neil Spiller is Professor of Architecture and Digital Theory at Bartlett, Faculty of the Built Environment, University College London (UCL). His research focuses on how cyberspace influences architecture and correlates between 'virtual' and 'actual'. Neil once felt that architecture was restricted by inert materials and unimaginative ideas, therefore focused his research on developing the technology and materials to remedy the current limitations.

Neil has edited publications and books including AD Architects in Cyberspace II (1998), and Reflexive Architecture (2002) both of which are considered to be critical documents for those interested in the fusion of architecture and digital technology. Since the publication of 'Architects in Cyberspace' Neil's reputation evolved internationally and his work has been disseminated in books, journals, lectures and broadcasts. The theoretical basis of Neil's work, Digital Theory: the design of reflexive environments, information ecologies and Architecture, is useful for students creating new fields of architectural experiment, research and scholarship.
