Mark Goulthorpe
Mark Goulthourpe is Associate Professor in the dept. of Architecture at MIT (Massachusettes Institute of Technology). In 1991 Mark established the dECOi atelier where he creates impressionable design, most recently established HypoSurface Corp. HypoSurface is the World's first display system where the intricate mechanically articulated screen surface, physically operates and behaves like controlled liquid which can move in waves, patterns, logos and even text.
HypoSurface gathers the expertise of a team of highly skilled designers, engineers and inventors who create technically sophisticated and innovative event-spaces. dECOi has received awards from the Royal Academy in London, the French Ministry of Culture and the Architectural League of New York. Mark has a network of research affiliates (mathematicians, programmers, etc) whose skills are deployed according to individual project needs and he is interested in developing creative partnerships with people in other domains. His portfolio ranges from pure design and artwork through to interior design to architecture and urbanism. He has delivered numerous publications, international lectures and conferences, and receives frequent guest-professorships including a design unit at the renowned Architectural Association in London and the École Speciale in Paris.
