A dialogue between the co-authors, which discusses how a broader context of textiles and costume moves between spaces of identity, social inter-action and construction. The ‘space between’ includes the motion or existence of dress in real and virtual space, which may be in the form of a painting, photograph or a digital environment. The depiction of dress in all of these forms is subject to a viewer’s interpretation, often defined by a particular sense of circumstance or period.

By Jane Harris and Bernard Walsh, Space Between Conference.
